DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — JetBlue Airways will resume service at Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) beginning Thursday, Dec. 4, bringing back daily nonstop flights to New York’s JFK and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) after nearly a seven-year absence.
The airline announced the decision in August as part of its renewed East Coast expansion plan, citing growing demand for affordable flights and greater connectivity for Volusia County travelers.
With JetBlue’s return, DAB becomes one of five carriers operating from the airport, offering a total of 11 nonstop destinations and nationwide connections.
Airport officials and local leaders said the flights are expected to boost tourism, provide convenient travel options for students and residents alike, and strengthen the airport’s role as a regional transportation hub.
Tickets for the new routes are already available, with introductory fares starting at $59 one-way, according to JetBlue’s press release.
For Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University students and staff, especially those traveling to and from campus during holiday breaks and spring term, JetBlue’s return offers a low-cost, convenient alternative to larger airports with direct access to major northeastern cities and onward international connections.
It also potentially strengthens ERAU’s connectivity to aviation industry partners, internships, and alumni networks along the East Coast, making travel and collaboration more accessible than in recent years.
While the initial flights are limited to two daily routes to JFK and BOS, JetBlue has not ruled out adding more destinations if demand proves strong. Airport officials say they are optimistic about possible future expansion as more passengers begin using the newly restored service.
With the holiday travel season quickly approaching and students planning winter break trips, JetBlue’s return could mark an important development for Daytona Beach, offering both convenience and economic benefit to the community and the campus.
