DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Late February brought high-action sports worldwide. For Riddle students, eSports took center stage. The FIFA 26 Tournament, held on the 26 and 28, energized the school. As the Esports Club's first EA Sports event, it gained quick momentum and proved a major success.

After the qualifiers on Tuesday Feb 24, many notable countries were represented, including France, the USA (with two teams), and Brazil (with three teams). Ten other teams also made it into the knockout stage, and the battle felt like a true global event.

The day of the finals came, and everyone gave it their all. Each match had legendary highlights that could only be dreamed of. When all was said and done, the Norway team found themselves taking the gold. France came in a close second, followed by the USA. Everyone was extremely pleased with how the tournament ran, especially considering it was the first attempt at such an event.

Cameron Cockerham, President of the Esports Club, was especially happy with how things went. “It was an honor to collaborate with Ugo Maximino and the SGA Senate to bring students from so many nations together for this event. This was the club's first attempt at running a tournament on any of the major EA Sports titles, and I can definitely say it won't be the last,” he said.

A huge congrats is in order for everyone who placed in the top three of the tournament. The Esports Club is consistently dedicating time for new events to be created, and students can expect all kinds of exciting adventures in the future. ¡Vamos!
